Paul, who used to be a bad guy who pretended to be a good guy, well back then he had the favor of all the people. When he stopped pretending and gave his life to Jesus and started following Jesus and really became a good guy, half the people hated him and lied against him.

Satan is the father of all lies. That’s actually one of his biblical names. By his very nature, Satan is a liar. He lies to others and I think sometimes he lies to himself.

If you’re going to follow Jesus, some people are going to hate you for that. Statistically speaking, 10% of the people you come across in life will hate you no matter what, however if you are a devout Christian, Satan’s children will hate you and will sabotage you and lie against you constantly.

Jesus and the Bible tells us the truth and we need to choose to believe the truth or the lie. Lies are sometimes easier to believe than the truth. We want to believe the lie sometimes. Prosperity preachers lie to us. But we love hearing their lies. Some of us have gotten into relationships with people who lie to us.

Some of us lie to our self. Our lies keep us comfortable. Our lies keep us temporarily safe. “I don’t need to change, everything is okay, everybody else is doing it”

“My life is harder than anyone else. If I ignore it, it will go away. I’m too young, or I’m too old. I don’t have a choice.”

“If only I had (fill in the blank) then I’d be happy.”

Those are some of the lies Satan has planted in our minds and Jesus is looking to set us free. I heard about this nice Christian woman in America who won almost $200 million in the lottery, after taxes she took home $80 million. That would pay out about $4M in interest every year, she could live like a princess forever. Instead, she went out and found the biggest loser on planet earth and became his girlfriend. She’s been in the news 4 times so far, because 4 times over the past 12 months, her boyfriend has committed robberies and assaults against people and she’s paid over $12,000,000 to bail him out of jail.

We all want to win the lottery but the fact is, Satan will be right there to lie to us and make us waste it all on nonsense when we do. They say that more than 90% of lottery winners end up completely broke within 5 years. When we believe Satan’s lies, it leads to complete destruction.

One thing I really appreciate about God, is that whatever journey we went on, whether it was a journey of obedience or a journey of sin, once we give our life to Jesus, He gives us a fresh opportunity to make a real comeback in life. He gives us an opportunity for restoration, an opportunity to get back much of what we lost and to move forward as if all the bad things didn’t happen.

And although we probably won’t win the lottery here on earth, God promises if we follow Him, we’ll get the biggest jackpot ever in heaven – eternal life, perfect health, nothing missing, nothing broken, real enjoyment forever and forever.
